If you’re like me, you absolutely love everything about the holiday season, but it’s can also be a stressful time and you want to make sure you’re organized in having a successful selling holiday season.
The problem is keeping business consistent during the high selling months. It’s not easy staying consistent with your business at this time of year. There are so many holiday events to organize on top of your usual direct sales daily and weekly activities.
I’m here to tell you there is a solution that works every time for me.
When I have that “snowed under” feeling coming on, I kick into gear my planning systems. In my Direct Sales Planner system, we plan ahead. We plan for the year, for the month, for the week and for the day. That’s why when we are faced with the high selling months over the holidays, the solution is to PLAN AHEAD with strategic dates, times and events organized in your planner.
I’ve rounded up some my favorite hacks to help you PLAN AHEAD to have less stress and create a holiday season filled with less stress, more joy and time for your friends, family and you! And read to the end for my FREE handout.
- Plan and map out important dates. Pay attention to THESE 3 months. November, December and January, yes JANUARY! Block off important dates for your business and important family holiday dates for these three months. Take a good look at this list and get out a piece of paper and start your list. Here’s a start for you. Writing down this list will inspire you with ideas and help you map out your busy season.
- Holiday Fairs
- Holiday Bookings
- Holiday networking events
- Kids performance dates and winter break dates
- Thanksgiving Prep and Thanksgiving week.
- Holiday Gift Giving
- Holiday Greeting cards
- Day to decorate your home
- Christmas Dinner Prep and Christmas day feast
- Social media holiday content.
- End of year newsletter
- First 10 New Year Parties
- Create a checklist for Black Friday/Cyber Monday Event. These are two important SALES days you want to have planned. There is no missing out on these high selling days. Start with these five steps and fill in the gaps in between.
- Schedule your event
- Figure your Sales Offers
- Send out Invitations
- Create Black Friday Social Media content
- Block off the time you’ll be working on Black Friday and Cyber Monday
3. Send out Holiday letter by November 15. This is a letter I share with all my coaching clients. It’s a special printed letter that you send in the mail wishing your customers a Happy Holiday season and offering them a special discount to be redeemed by December 15th. This special discount is only for your customers and they appreciate you. Make your discount sizeable so they know it’s something special you only offer once a year. When you follow up after with your mail-outs you have the opportunity to have a wonderful conversation with your customers which usually results in a nice large sale as well as many want to be one of your first hostesses in the New Year. Sometimes, you may find someone who is looking for an opportunity and wants to start a business.
- Plan a day for your Holiday Open House. Holding an annual once-a-year holiday open house where you serve your best cookies and hot apple cider sets you apart from the crowd. Your customers will look forward to this event because they know you will have specials like holiday bundles, baskets and sets of gift items where they can do a lot of their Christmas gift shopping.
- Update your customer list– Create a Gift Giving Wish list. This is one of the most important tasks you need to do. Don’t procrastinate on this and hope your messages go to the right people. Find a way to insure your emails are up to date you have the right addresses and if you’re using text campaigns the best phone number to reach people.
6. Offer Personal Shopping appointments. People are looking for the BEST service, and you have a great opportunity to offer them a personal shopping appointment on zoom or even in person. Let them know exactly how you will help them with their holiday shopping and what gifts are available for their mother-in-law, their sister, their best friend! This form of shopping is one of the best ways to earn trust and let your customers know you are the go-to person when they are looking for gifts or for great service.
7. Get Holiday Greeting cards organized. I’m sure you have family Holiday greeting cards organized every year, but what about your customers? A great way to create customer holiday greeting cards is to use Vista Print. People love to hear from you and a holiday or postcard in the mail is part of your visibility plan and letting people know about your service.
8. Start planning the 12 days of Christmas sale. This is one of the most successful campaigns my coaching clients use every year. It’s simply offering a ONE-DAY special for the first 12 days of December. This is a great email marketing campaign. However, you can also offer it in your Facebook group, or a texting campaign. I show my clients how to work this campaign so they have higher sales in December.
9. Organize your office. You may be thinking you’re too busy to organize your office, but if you just organize a gift wrap station, and display your products so people will view them if they visit your home over the holidays, you’ll enjoy the best times with your friends and family knowing your business is on trend.
10. Prepare your Calendar for the New Year. Okay, now this is the BEST HACK of all, because when you start the New Year with 10 Hostesses ready to enjoy a fun get together to toast the New Year with you and your products, the rest of the year will fall into place and you’ll grow your business! My coaching clients know the importance of my 10 New Year Hostess campaign. Watch this video where you’ll learn how the results of this campaign can set you up for a successful year.
