Today’s question is probably my favorite question because it gives you the opportunity to look back at what worked and what didn’t work in your business.   When you do this it gives you the impetus to create a new plan with a clean slate, refresh and renew.

2012 Success Plan Question #16

What will you do differently in your business in 2012?

I begin answering this question with a long list of things I want to do differently in my business.  It’s a special list I write in my daily journal.  It gives me the opportunity to try new things..

Doing things differently gives you the ability to make changes from a clean slate.  Doing things differently allows you to have possibility thinking.  What’s possible?  Anything is possible!

The following is a fun story  I used to share with prospects who were looking for an opportunity to do things differently in their life.

If I’m Dreaming Don’t Wake me!

Once upon a time, an ambitious woman entered a successful store with a reputation for beautiful, fine quality merchandise. She walked right up to the owner and said, “Sir, I am very impressed with your establishment. I’d like to come aboard and build a career here. I can promise you I’ll work hard and I’ll do a great job. In return, all I ask for is the following:
·         First, I’d like 30% profit on everything I sell
·         And a discount on anything I want to buy in the store
·         In the first 30 days, I’d like the opportunity to earn some free product and cash, if I sell a quota amount to your liking.
·         Then, if I bring in and train 4 new sales people like myself, I think I deserve a commission on everything they sell and earn the title of “Team Leader.”
·         And, I’d like an increase in commission as I develop more leaders.
·         Now, when I do well I expect lots of praise and recognition – not to mention products, special awards and gifts
·         And oh, yes, DREAM vacations to exotic locations.
·         By the way, I’m afraid I’m just NOT into the 9 to 5 scene. So, I’ll want to set my own schedule and work when it suits me best. My family always comes first and I want to work a flexible schedule around my children.
·         Oh and if you have training meetings, I’d prefer it if you paid for my travel
·         Ok, I think that’s about it. So, when can I start?
After the store owner recovered from the shock, he roared with laughter. “Lady, you can’t be serious! You’re living in a dream world. You’ll never find an opportunity like that.. anywhere!”
He was wrong, of course,I found that opportunity in Direct Sales.
