Some people love to set goals and forget about them, but when you set an INCOME GOAL it’s usually because you need  money to pay for something important.

I remember when I first joined Direct Sales, I had three kids in private college all at one time, and I needed $2,400 every month to help pay for their tuition, room and board.   It was urgent, I couldn’t miss, so I knew the exact amount of sales I needed to hit that Income goal.YOU HAVE TO BE STRATEGIC IF YOU NEED A SPECIFIC AMOUNT OF INCOME EVERY MONTH.

  • It helps you focus.
  • It helps you know your priorities.
  • It helps you know the actions you need to take to hit your goal.

Some Direct Sellers focus on a monthly SALES GOAL to earn a trip award.  They know with a $3,000 sales goal every month their income will be around $1,000 every month.  It’s the incentive to earn a FREE trip that drives her to stay consistent so she doesn’t miss ONE MONTH in reaching the goal.

THAT’S BEING STRATEGIC!

Let’s look at 5 strategic ways to hit your INCOME GOAL in your Direct Sales Business.

Strategy #1  Set the INCOME GOAL.  I find many direct sellers don’t like setting this goal!  Some people just wing it and hope they make enough money in their business to pay for some things.  In fact, many people spend their profits on product for themselves and don’t really know how much income they make every month.  So, this is an important strategic step.   What income is your non-negotiable amount every month.  Be strategic!

Strategy #2  Focus on having high party sales.  This is the number one money-maker in your business because it is the event that brings in a number of orders at one time.  Having high party sales is all about becoming confident in holding parties and having consistent parties every month.  I recommend to my coaching clients to always have SIX parties every month.  I call it your SIX-PACK – one a week, plus two extra. This is the best strategy to grow your business on the FAST track, staying consistent with 6 plus parties every month.  Be strategic!

Strategy #3  Fill in the gaps with Personal One-on-ones.  This was one of the best strategies I added to my business.  Every Wednesday I booked one-on-ones personal style appointments and many times the sales from an afternoon of one-on-ones made the difference in hitting my income goal.   The biggest benefit was converting one-on-ones to a booking on my calendar.  Once my one-on-one got to know me and my fashions, she agreed to book a future party.  This strategy paid off big time! And it pays off big time for my coaching clients who add it to their monthly income goals.  Be Strategic!

Strategy #4  Add to your income with follow up re-orders.  In today’s world your follow-up has never been simpler.  There are so many tools, apps and methods to use to automate your follow-up systems.  However, as I share with my coaching clients, you have to SCHEDULE a block of time every week to focus on your follow-up.  A text is great, an email is even better, but when you pick up the phone and THANK someone for their order, you build a whole new relationship.  The keyword here is SCHEDULE!  When you schedule time for follow-up every week, you get re-orders, you get future bookings and sometimes someone is ready to join!  Be Strategic!

Strategy #5  A Fundraiser or Vendor Event adds sales and income.  Oprah says, “If your intention is clear, and you are giving for the true joy of it–just because you want someone to receive the pleasure of your giving–then your generosity will be returned to you.”   Let’s not forget the reason we do fundraisers.  They are great giving events, but they can also be great profit centers.   Fundraisers not only add sales and profits to your business, they introduce you to new people who have never heard about your products.   The same for a Vendor Event.  You can’t count on a high amount of sales, but you can count on meeting new and interesting people who become your new customers, hostesses and team members.  These two events are important in your strategy to hit your income goals.   Be Strategic!
