How would you feel if you had $300-$500 deposited into your bank account on Friday every week? If you’re following the “party” business model that I teach in my Calendar Girls Team Booking system and Direct sales Planner, you are setting yourself up for success to have a profitable direct sales business.
If, on the other hand, you think that you growing your business doing expo’s and vendor fairs, or selling one-on-one, and not doing that “party” thing, you’ll find your business will grow slow and stall. It’s that “party” thing that built me a million dollar team and a six figure income business because I embraced the fact that the party was my business model. It was the way I could profit greatly at as fast a rate as possible to have cash flowing into my bank account every week!
Recently, I spoke at a local Norwex Team meeting with my friend, Nicole. Nicole shared with her team how excited she was having $1000 to $1500 parties. I love to break things down into easy steps so it’s a formula for success, and there are actually 6 steps to follow to insure you have $1000 in sales at every party.
Step #1 – Focus on building a BFF relationship with your hostess. The number one rule is to connect with your hostess and share what’s in it for her. Be vested in getting high hostess credits for “her.” Never take your sight off the sales amount you need so your hostess will be delighted about her free products. Use the “wish list” and refer to it every time you connect with your hostess. Of course you want to follow the 3-connect formula that I lay out in my “Hostess Coaching Toolkit” online e-book. That’s how you build that special relationships with every hostess, so she’s invested with you in having a great party.
Step #2 – Focus on your hostess guest list. Helping your hostess get the “right” people to the party will insure she gets her high hostess credits. Get specific with her about each guest, and determine who might be a booking or a prospect. Create a checklist of questions for your hostess about the guests who are attending. (found in the “Hostess Coaching Toolkit.”) Get her guest list and go the extra mile in sending the guests a postcard before the party to bring as a door prize to the event. This helps your hostess have confirmations for the party and guests who are excited to have a fun experience meeting you and learning about your products.
Step #3 Help your hostess obtain $300 or more in outside orders. In fact, give her a small incentive to get $300 and explain what’s in it for her. I call outside orders “golden” opportunities for you to gain new customers and hostesses, but you have to explain and show the hostess that these are people she may invite who can’t make it to the party, but would love to order. Or, even, someone who cancels at the last minute. One of the key questions I love to ask hostesses is “Who do you know works in an office with 10 people?” You’re educating her on how to have $300 in sales outside of the party which means now you’re on your way to your $1000 in sales.
Step #4 Learn to be a great presenter. How comfortable are you at sharing your products? Are your guests engaged and learning how to solve problems using your products? Are you interacting with your guests so they ask you questions because they want to know more about how your products will help them? You’ll know when you share your products if you are a great presenter, because people will ask you lots of questions and will come up to you and say, “I loved your presentation.” When someone says this to you, you know you’ve nailed it. Study how to sell your products through your knowledge of it’s uses and use enthusiasm and passion. Sprinkle the 5 power words of selling I share in the article in the Direct Sales planner.
Step #5 Keep the fun factor in your parties and be authentic. A study was done by the DSA a few years back on why people book parties, and the number one reason was “fun.” They want to have a fun experience and I believe it’s your job to give them a fun “shopping” experience. I’m not much for games at parties, I believe it depends on the guests and the hostess, but there are so many other ways to add fun. Interact with your guests one-on-one as often as possible. Being authentic and real and sharing your passion when interacting with the guests, and having intimate conversations makes for a memorable experience. That’s the key, you want every guest to leave thinking she had a memorable and fun experience.
Step #6 Become an expert at checkout. Learn the formula for checkout. I believe there are six areas to focus on at checkout. The first is to acknowledge and compliment guests. Barriers break down and people relax when you compliment them on their appearance, or their help, and their product selection. But, the one area you must focus on asking at checkout is that “upsell” moment. It’s when you’ve written up the order, and you look at the whole and you think about what else you could suggest that “goes with” her order. Studies show that if you ask for an upsell with every order, not everyone will buy, but the ones who love your suggestion of one more item can make the difference between your sales of $950.00 and hitting the $1000.00 mark. It’s a simple phrase, “Suzie, most of my guests find when they order (this item), they always love to add (this item.)”
These are six easy steps to focus on so you can have $1000 in sales at every party. What you’re actually doing is growing your confidence in getting comfortable at holding parties every time connecting with your hostess, presenting your products and connecting with your guests during the party and at checkout. All the time, being real and authentic, and attracting others to you, and most importantly, knowing you’ll have cash flowing to your bank account every week! Of course, it takes practice and that’s why we suggest two parties a week is the fast track to growth as well as having consistent cash flow you can count on every week.
