invest in you 2This week I received a Facebook message from a leader who would love to join my group coaching program and is trying to figure out how she can pay for it.  I  hear you loud and clear because I had the same mindset before I hired my own coach.

I remember exactly when I made the decision to hire a coach to help me grow my six-figure income direct sales business.   A colleague of mine suggested this coach to me and the first thing I thought about was “cost” in spending the money.  I had reached the first level of leadership, but I was quite a long way from earning that $10,000 a month commission income, and I was really doubtful whether this person could really help me.

I was committed to learning how to motivate my team.  I would spend money on books, cd’s and workshops.  I even subscribed to direct sales publications and read as much as possible to help me become a better leader, but I thought a private coach was just too expensive.

However, I was curious, so I opted in for the complimentary session.  On that first call, I found a person who was so warm and friendly, but most of all I felt she was someone who “got” me.  She understood where I wanted to go with my business.   I thought I’d hire her for a couple of months to see how it worked.

The results were astounding!  We formed an amazing friendship and I credit my three-year coaching relationship with my wonderful coach in helping me guide my team to become the #1 team in the company hitting over two million in sales. Here are three important tips I learned from my coach, and I will share the formula below that I formed to handle the “cost.”

#1  Surround yourself with positivity.   Hang out with people who are positive and professional.  My coach was an expert in the D.I.S.C. Behavioral assessment and this tool helped me inspire each member of my team for positive success.   I coach with D.I.S.C. with my clients today.

#2  Set goals with deadlines.  My coach taught me the importance of setting deadlines to achieve those goals.  Goals are easy to set, but the art of tracking your progress and staying focused on meeting the deadline, is the key to success in growing your team.

# Create a “No Excuses” Approach.  How often do you think, “this is hard” and you say to yourself, “maybe I should quit this business.”  I credit my warm, understanding coach helping me get through these times, as the ONE THING that grew my income to six-figures.  Running a million dollar team is work!  My coach helped me develop my own signature approach to winning.  I call it the W.I.T.A. which is an acronym for the “Whatever It Takes Approach” to running your business.  It involves your mindset.  When you think things are “too hard,” or you think “nobody wants to book with me,” that’s when you have to pivot your mind to keep going and adopt the W.I.T.A in your business.

But, let’s go back to the “cost.”   Like the leader above who told me she’s working on justifying the “cost.”  Instead of “cost” think about the word “invest.”  That’s what you’re doing when you spend dollars on improving you and your business.  Here’s a little formula I used to help me move from thinking of the “cost”  realizing I was  “investing” in my success. 

FORMULA:  ONE party with sales $500 x 30% = $150.00 INCOME!FORMULA INVEST IN YOURSELF

Yes, that’s really simple isn’t it!  Allocate just ONE  $500 party a month and dedicate it to  “investing” in your success.  If you’re holding 4 parties a month right now, then add ONE more.   If you’re holding 6 parties a month, then add ONE more that will dedicate dollars towards investing in your success.   If you focus on this ONE strategy every month dedicating the profits from ONE $500 party, you’ll not only reap the $100+ income to pay for a coach who will help you increase your business, here  are other incredible benefits
