My story this week is how I helped one of my coaching clients find her “word of the year!” She shared with me how she feels like a failure every time she sets goals mostly because every year when she sets goals she doesn’t ever look at them again. This happens for two reasons.
- She doesn’t write them down in a place where she can easily see them.
- She gets so busy and overwhelmed with life, she just doesn’t “believe” she can hit her goals.
I asked her this question, “What if I showed you a simple method where you could think about your goals every day? And not only will you remember where you wrote them down, but you will know exactly what they are every day!”
She said, “I’ve love that! Tell me how!”
So, we sat down together on zoom and I helped her map out some goals with my simple goal setting method. We began with this ONE question.
“Imagine it’s December 31st, 2023, and you are feeling happy because you have accomplished dot… dot… dot…
What are the dot, dot, dots that you have accomplished?”
This helped her begin and the words started flowing…
- I ACCOMPLISHED bringing on a few new customers.
- I ACCOMPLISHED keeping up with my social media.
- I ACCOMPLISHED completing my website
- I ACCOMPLISHED working my business around my family
- I ACCOMPLISHED setting up a follow up system (finally!)
She was on a roll, and I could see her smiling and feeling more comfortable.
Now, I said to her answer question #2
“Imagine it’s December 31st 2023, and you are thinking about the dot… dot… dot… you would have done differently.”
What are the dot, dot, dots that you would have done differently?
She gave a big grin and started to write furiously.
- I would have been more consistent. Especially with my time management.
- I would have held gone live more often in my VIP group every month.
- I would have gone live on instagram more to become more visible.
- I would have tweak my follow up system.
- I would have learned how to do reels and become an expert at them.
- I would have done more to create new leads and customers.
- I would have started my blog.
We paused and I highlighted some words from her answers. Words like..
Consistent – Every month – every week – time management – more!
What Thread do you see for her?
She knows what to do in her business, but needs to have more consistency.
- She wants to be “consistent” with time management.
- She wants to hold live videos “every week.”
- She wants a more organized follow-up system. Systems create consistency.
- She wants to have more “expert knowledge” at social media like reels. This takes
consistent attention. - She wants to have “MORE” new leads.
If you look at the THREAD of what she wants to have by the end of 2023, it will happen when she is more CONSISTENT in these specific areas that she has pinpointed from these two questions.
HER WORD OF THE YEAR FOR 2023 is
“CONSISTENT!”
Now how does she keep her goals in front of her for the whole year?
WRITE THE WORD “CONSISTENT” in the FRONT OF HER PLANNER and every day when she works in her planner she will see HER word and it will REMIND her of the dot.. dot… dots… she wants to achieve by the end of 2023.
All her goals for the year tie back to that ONE WORD!

#4 CONNECT. is a word that focuses on building and deepening relationships with people in all areas of your business and your life. We need more ways to connect in a powerful way in 2023.
#5 SYSTEMATIZE. Nothing like streamlining and getting organized to make yourself more productive in 2023 than this word. It could be a word that solves many problems for you.
