How many times do you hear yourself saying… “I don’t have time!”
When I hear myself saying that phrase over and over, I know it’s time for me to do a TIME AUDIT.
A TIME AUDIT is an examination of how you spend your time in your business and your life. When you record how you work, and what happens throughout your day, it allows you to make intentional choices with the minutes and hours in your day.
TIME AUDITS HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME
I’ve been doing TIME AUDITS on and off for years and when I do them I am always amazed “how” and “where” I’m being productive and finding gaps to work on revenue generating activities. I get to see how I’m working on my business versus how much time I spend having fun with my family and friends, and my hobbies and exercise.
A TIME AUDIT simply means you devote time to document your days, and the tasks you perform each day. It involves logging your activities and the amount of time you spend on each activity.

When you do a Time Audit you are taking an honest look at how you work and how much you’re achieving in your business.
When you write down the tasks you do every 30 minutes, you learn if you’re spending too much time working, and not enough time for fun, family or even your hobbies. For me, I like to read, walk and play mahjong with friends and these are always factored into my schedule.
I find I am constantly looking for ways to be more efficient, and when I did a TIME AUDIT exercise recently, it was no exception.
I was looking for how much time I spend on “Revenue Generating Activities.” I call them R.G.A.’s.

WHAT ARE REVENUE GENERATING ACTIVITIES? Revenue Generating Activities are those activities that develop into bringing in money to your business. It’s the busy work activities that keeps us distracted and when you do a TIME AUDIT, you notice immediately if you’re spending too much time on the busy work.
IN THE TIME AUDIT EXERCISE You’ll learn how to identify your FIVE TOP Revenue Generating Activities. When you prioritize these R.G.A.s into your busy week, you’ll be focusing on increasing your revenue.
In MY OWN TIME AUDIT I noticed …
- I was not spending ENOUGH time on R.G.A.’s
- So, I made a list of 15 R.G.A.’s to plug into my schedule.
- Then, I worked on my weekly planning to schedule them into my day.
WOW ! This was eye opening and I am now teaching this to my coaching clients in my A-LAB program where we meet once a week to review our goals and stay accountable to growing our business.
