Planning takes work and work takes planning. And we have to do it every week. We all have a mile-high to-do list. When you first start a direct sales business, your thoughts were on how you were going to sell your fabulous products and learn how to have a successful party. What we don’t realize at the time is there is so much more like,
- keeping your calendar full of bookings,
- scheduling company and team events
- learning about products
- keeping up with social media
and that is just the beginning. Here’s what I wish someone had told me..
- #1 Pay attention to how you plan your work.
- #2 Have a vision of what you need to do every week.
- #3 Make it simple so you work it like a weekly ritual
However, I had a secret weapon, and that was a PLANNER! The planner I worked with was designed by myself and a colleague and it was this planner we worked on to grow both our million dollar teams.
Today’s Direct Sales Planner has evolved from this concept and as I say you must plan! So, the place to plan your work is using a planner that is custom designed just for direct sellers to know how to keep their calendar full of bookings.
I recommend planning your work and working your plan every week. There is something about achieving weekly goals using the DIRECT SALES PLANNER that has a powerful effect on the growth of your business. It’s that step-by-step approach that makes the difference in feeling CONFIDENT when you know you are definitely going to hit your targets.
Here are my 5 steps to working the Sunday Planning ritual using the DIRECT SALES PLANNER
Step 1 – Plan your weekly work time slots The most delicious thing I love about my business is Sunday Night planning. When you create a picture of your week, you believe all things are possible. You get to decide how your week will flow because you spread out your weekly calendar and find the time slots to work your business. I teach my coaching clients to do three things,
- Look at committed time slots for their family and life
- Schedule the life time slots like gym time, family time that is so important
- Add up the time slots left for your business.
Now, you know exactly how many time slots you have during the week to focus on your business. When you take the time to plan your business every Sunday, life happens “for” you, and not “to” you.
Step 2 – Set a compelling weekly goal. When you set weekly goals you make a decision about what you want to achieve in your business. Once you’ve made that decision, you then make many little decisions within that big decision. In the DIRECT SALES PLANNER system, setting weekly goals is imperative because it puts you on the path to achieving the bigger goals. For example, you may set a weekly goal to hold 4 recruiting conversations, which leads to your next level promotion. This ONE decision can set in motion coffee chat conversations with prospects where
- One decides to join.
- One decides to wait til next month.
- One is not interested, but will think about referring someone.
- One will be ready next season.
This one weekly goal to hold 4 recruiting conversations results in you growing your personal team by two new people. Worth planning your work and working your plan right?
Step 3 – Create 3 Priorities ACTION ITEMS for each day. As you get into the rhythm of writing out a to-do list, you’ll see the ones that rise to the top for each day of the week. Write in your top three priorities for each day and watch your productivity fly! There is power in prioritizing three daily actions. It creates a rhythm, emphasizes a pattern in the brain and gets you into action like “Ready, Set, go” every day! This is truly planning your work and working your plan and getting results!
Step 4 – A Solid Weekly Dinner Menu. I believe planning your meals every week helps you be more organized. When busy Moms know what’s for dinner, it gives them peace of mind. You do a weekly shopping to make sure you have everything on hand. Now your mind is free to focus more on your business goals for the week. That’s why this space is available in your WEEKLY SUCCESS PLAN page in your Direct Sales Planner.
Step 5. List Top Action items. Action items are my “must do” items for the week. I list them in the bottom section of the weekly page and when I’m looking at them every day, I know I must get them done. They might be
- Hold 4 recruiting coffee chats this week.
- Create a team incentive this week.
- Prepare for my team meeting this week.
This 5-step approach to using the Weekly planner pages in the DIRECT SALES PLANNER is the “system” that helps you get back to reality when you are juggling so many other things in life.
It all begins with planning your work, working your plan EVERY WEEK!
