This week I got a Facebook message from one of my favorite people, Jackie Ulmer, who has an amazing podcast for direct sellers. Jackie and I met online years ago and she asked me if I’d like to come on her podcast show and share some of my systems in growing a million dollar team.
This message from Jackie reminded me that she is truly the queen of follow-up. Jackie contacted me about six months ago and at the time I was too busy. It’s now six months later and I hadn’t forgotten about this, but thought maybe I’d lost the window and Jackie wasn’t interested anymore. But, it’s six months later and Jackie is still following up. The interview is happening soon, so I’ll keep you informed.
What type of follow-up system do you have? And how consistent and disciplined are you in keeping in touch with customers, hostesses and prospects? A follow-up system needs to be simple, easy and most of all CONSISTENT! It’s the consistency that brings the sales and bookings coming into your business every day, every week, every month.
There are three specific follow-up systems I share in my coaching programs.
- Customer Service Follow-up. Having a system that kicks in when a new customer orders a product from you, helps you grow that relationship because once a customer gets to know, you, like you and trust you, she’ll inevitably convert to a hostess very soon. One of the steps in this system is to make a phone call – not a text, not a Facebook message, not a note, but a phone call . If you make this call to every customer after she’s received her purchase, you’ll build a loyal customer base. Don’t ASK for any bookings or sales on this call. She may be so happy she’ll want to give you a phone order. So be prepared to take an order, or book a party, or answer a question if she’s interested in joining. However, if she says she loves her products and thanks you for the call, be satisfied. This call is not about “expecting” more, its being “prepared” if she wants more.
- Hostess Follow-up. This is a crucial system to have in place and all it takes is three steps. The success of every party you hold depends on your relationship with the hostess. In my “Advanced Hostess Coaching” CD I share with you how to build a BFF (Best Friend Forever) relationship with every hostess, and if you stay in touch three time before the party with a specific checklist for each connection, you’ll find your party sales will increase every time.
- Recruiting Follow-up. This system is a proven success system. It’s how I grew my team to the million-dollar level. It’s all laid out in the Recruiting Blueprint Home Study Course. This system helps you have high conversion rates with a step by step formula to developing prime prospects to team members.
It’s so easy to lose track of who you’ve called and what conversations transpired. And I’m talking mostly about phone conversations. Of course, you can always connect via text, Facebook and email, but when someone hears the tone and warmth of your voice (even if it’s a phone message) the relationship changes. It’s simply “faster” to build the relationship over the phone. So many emails and written messages seem to go back and forth before you come to a conversation conclusion.
When you track your phone conversations every week, you will find you do more business and become more consistent in earning the income you want.
I encourage all my coaching clients to commit to making 20 calls a week. I have a special worksheet for them to use. They print it out every week and use it every day. A simple worksheet allows you to make calls from anywhere. I suggest making 5 calls a day. Each week carry over the names on the worksheet you didn’t connect with to call the next week. Create a BINDER and keep your log of conversations to look back and schedule more business than every before.
Again it’s the consistency of making 5 phone calls a day checking in with customers, building relationships with hostesses and continuing to extend the opportunity to prospects that manifests into consistent business. If you schedule these 5 phone calls daily, 5 days a week, you’ll begin to see the consistent results of enough sales, bookings and recruit leads always keeping business flowing to you and receiving that dependable income you need every month.
It’s simple. Consistent follow-up equals consistent income. Consistent income leads to consistent wealth.
