#1 Dress the part! What you wear is a reflection of your professionalism and competence. Dressing the part doesn’t mean you have to conform to a rigid dress code, it simply means aligning what you wear with your brand and your industry. As a Fashion Consultant, I made sure I had the right outfit for the occasion with coordinated accessories and shoes, so when people asked me, “What do you do?” and I answered with “I have a home-based Fashion Business,” they looked twice at what I was wearing to establish if they wanted to learn more.

#2 Develop a Signature Look! Creating a signature style can make you instantly recognizable and memorable. Whether it’s a statement accessory, a distinctive color palette or
a particular type of clothing, a signature look sets you apart in a crowded room. It’s the visual component of your personal brand. Think about the one item you feel most amazing and comfortable in? For me, it’s a good black pant and a crew neck top and simple jacket. I go for the one-third, two-thirds look when the Jacket and pant are the same color and the top is a splash of color, like red or yellow that shows off my best features.

#3 Embrace Confidence-Boosting Outfits: Your personal style can also be a powerful confidence booster for you. When you feel good in what you’re wearing, it can have a positive impact on your self—assuredness and how you carry yourself. Confident body language and demeanor are attractive and engaging to others. Pay attention to compliments when you wear a certain outfit. The reason you got those compliments is because that particular outfit must have made you feel good and you’re giving out good vibes and confidence that got the compliment in the first place

#4 Understand your Body Shape. As a Fashion Stylist, one of the workshops I loved to teach woman was called “Figure your Figure.” In this workshop, I showed women how to establish their own body shape using vertical and horizontal lines. We would create the right outfits for their own body shapes. Then focus on how to choose the colors that suited their skin tone and the accessories that finished off their outfits. I always say “No Body is Perfect.”
