What makes a winning team in a Direct sales business? Good communication. Only with good communication can a team succeed. And good communication begins with you, their leader. Your communication sets the tone for the interaction of everyone on your team. The team in this picture is when my million dollar team won the #1 Team position in the whole nation.
Look at those faces, we held up that #1 finger because we had tremendous team spirit. We supported each other using team communication at its highest level.
One of the key strategies we work with in the CALENDAR GIRLS Team booking system is a communication strategy. We focus on building a positive culture of communication and behavior that drives the team to have successful bookings. We begin with setting positive expectations, communicating through phone, texting, email, social media and a special weekly newsletter. This communication strategy is at the heart of growing a million dollar team.
Social media has enabled us to communicate with each other authentically and with open dialogue of support, and this is a key role for leaders today in growing team spirit in their direct sales team.
I believe it’s one of the best ways to create that sense of belonging in a team. I am privileged to be on many team Facebook pages and witness this positive environment of communication. If you want to improve your communication and grow a winning team here are a tips that are essential to building a strong team spirit.
- Set expectations with your positive tone. Let your posts reflect you as a professional and a caring, kind and inspiring leader. Post only positive and uplifting words that inspires everyone to rally together in responding to your posts. We are working with instantaneous results.
- Post consistently every day. Your presence online in your team page every day role models the importance of working your business. Your team knows they have easy access to you through this page, so questions are answered and obstacles are removed through your quick response.
- Use praise and recognition often. Nothing encourages people to work hard and product quality results than having their accomplishments noticed and praised. Post small successes and big successes. Write short story snippets about party success, customer service success and team contributions. The best part about praising one person is that it motivates others. People notice praise, even when it goes to someone else.
- Remind team of important events. Sometimes we assume everyone knows about upcoming team meetings or company teleseminars. A quick reminder post may make the difference for a large attendance at your meetings with a description of the “fun” and “excitement.”
- Use pictures and inspiring quotes. Sometimes one picture can say a 1,000 words you want to share with your team.
- Share team goals and milestones. This is key to getting everyone being part of the team effort. In the CALENDAR GIRLS Team booking system, we work with three important team goals. Monthly Team Booking, Team Sales and Team recruiting goals and we keep the team apprised how close they are to hitting these goals each week. It builds team momentum and focuses on everyone’s contribution whether it’s large or small.
- Set rules on negative ranting. Implement a “No complaining rule.” When someone has a problem, set the protocol with team members to always “complain up” and do it privately, not on the team page.
- Celebrate team achievements and accomplishments with special events or special incentive awards. This builds team pride, especially when you’re attending company events. This is key recruiting tool. This team spirit attracts others to join this winning team.
Team spirit comes from the top. Use these important tips to emanate the right attitude and culture you want to have on your winning team.
A Facebook team page is one of the best ways to engage your team and build team momentum. The results are almost instantaneous when you use the above tips and include all team members in keeping that team spirit alive and thriving!
