I grew up in a racehorse family. My father owned race horses and my mother always used to say, you know how much they win, but you never hear about the losses. The Queen of England is a race horse owner, and has loved the sport her whole life.
Do you know why a thorougbred race horse wears blinders during a race? The answer is pretty obvious. It doesn’t get distracted. The jockey needs to know the horse is looking straight ahead at all times because if it doesn’t, it could lose the race.
For those few minutes of the race, the jockey and the horse have one hundred percent concentrated focus and intensity on crossing the finish line in first place. The blinders are an integral part of keeping the horse focused on not only winning, but finishing the race. And even though, there is only one winner, every single horse in the race does cross that finish line.
Do you have that kind of focus for your business?
There are many things in life that distract us from reaching our goals.
On my “Step into Action” webinar this week, a client asked, “What tools do you use to track your time on social media?” Social media can be a huge distraction and keep us from working the high revenue activities in your business.
Put your blinders on, get yourself an egg timer and set it for 15 minutes and when the alarm rings, get off the internet and work on an activity that brings you income, like booking a party, or setting a recruiting appointment.
Putting blinders on was a technique I used when growing my million dollar team. It took intense, concentrated focus every day. A tool I used was a whiteboard in my office where I drew circles of new recruits and new leaders that would qualify my team to the next level of leadership.
Another tool I use in my business, even today, is a yearly vision board that is placed in a very prominent position in my office so I view it every day.
I see many people who struggle with focus and ask questions on how to overcome the distractions. It’s not easy, especially in today’s digital world, but if you really want to cross that finish line and grow a six figure income business, you have GOT to put on your blinders, otherwise you’ll continue to wonder why you’re business isn’t moving forward.
What methods or tools are you using to stay focused with concentrated intensity to cross your finish line in your direct sales business?
